The Science behind Brain Bella
Inspired by Oxford University research, designed with bioavailable B vitamins and carefully chosen herbs.
-
Every 3 seconds, someone in the world develops dementia , and in 2020 there were over 55 million people living with the disease (Alzheimer Disease International). ADI's prognosis is that this number will almost double 'every 20 years, reaching 78 million in 2030 and 139 million in 2050'.
-
Multiple studies and clinical trials have identified malnutrition as one of the key factors — and shown how B-vitamin intake can play an important role in slowing cognitive decline.
-
At by Bella Health, this understanding became our starting point.
-
Building on what leading researchers have proven effective in this global effort, Brain Bella was developed to provide essential, bioavailable B-vitamins in their most effective form, which together with natural herb extracts help protect what makes us who we are: our clarity, focus and connection to others.

The Oxford University VITACOG trial
The VITACOG trial, run at Oxford University, was a large clinical study that ran over the duration of 2 years on 266 older adults with mild cognitive impairment. 50% of the participants received B6, B12 and folate for two years, and the remaining 50% were on placebo.
- Methods: Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study
Participants: 266 older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI)
Duration: 2 years
Intervention: Daily supplementation of folic acid (800 mcg), vitamin B6 (20 mg), and vitamin B12 (500 mcg)
- Methods: Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study

The results
Results from the Oxford VITACOG trial showed that B-vitamin treatment helped preserve memory and cognitive performance compared to placebo.
Those with higher homocysteine levels — a key marker linked to brain atrophy — experienced the greatest benefits, including better memory, learning and overall mental function.
Clinical assessments and family observations confirmed that participants maintained better day-to-day functioning over the two-year period.

The Brain Bella Formula is based on these results
The VITACOG trial demonstrated that targeted B-vitamin supplementation can slow memory decline and protect thinking skills, particularly in people with raised homocysteine.
Bella Health builds directly on this evidence. Our formula provides the same daily amount of B12 used in the study, alongside carefully balanced levels of B6 and folate for safe, long-term support. Because B-vitamins are water-soluble, the body naturally absorbs what it needs and releases the rest. This makes it both safe and effective to maintain higher-than-daily values for optimal results.
In other words, we translate clinical findings into a supplement designed for everyday use, with the same scientific rigour and a focus on transparency and safety.

Wider evidence
Follow-up research continues to confirm the Oxford findings:
- Recent studies (2024) show that taking B-vitamins can help slow cognitive decline — especially when started early and maintained consistently over time.
- Another study (2024) links higher intake of folate and B6 to a lower risk of developing dementia later in life.
- A third source (2022) demonstrates some clinical studies that shows improving B12 and folate levels enhance memory and overall wellbeing within weeks.
Together, this growing body of evidence suggests that maintaining healthy levels of B6, B12 and folate is one of the simplest ways to support long-term brain health and cognitive resilience.
Brain Bella only use bioavailable vitamins
-
Buying a Bella Health product should be a lasting investment in your wellbeing.
-
While many supplements rely on synthetic vitamin forms that need to be converted before they take effect, we go further: Using only bioavailable vitamins in their active, ready-to-use forms, so your body can absorb them more efficiently.
-
Why this matters
By choosing these bioavailable forms, Brain Bella builds on the clinical evidence from the Oxford VITACOG study and takes it a step further — offering the same proven combination shown to support memory and cognition, but in the body’s active form, designed for better absorption and long-term effectiveness. This allows each nutrient to go straight to work, supporting DNA repair, neurotransmitters, and optimal nerve function.

Tradition meets evidence
Alongside proven vitamins, Brain Bella includes small doses of carefully selected herbs that have been trusted in traditional medicine for centuries. These are now recognised by the WHO, and studied for their cognitive benefits.
